The Barbet is a medium-sized, balanced dog, with a characteristic thick, woolly, fleecy coat, assuring effective protection against cold and humidity. There is a characteristic beard, which gave the breed its name.

Trainability: The Barbet’s personality is described as companionable, gay, obedient and intelligent. They are capable retrievers for waterfowl hunting and a faithful companion.
