Appearance

The Barbet is a medium-sized, balanced dog, with a characteristic thick, woolly, fleecy coat, assuring effective protection against cold and humidity. There is a characteristic beard, which gave the breed its name.

Country of Origin:  France

Life Range: 10 to 14 years

Height Range: 18” to 22”

Weight Range: 33 to 55 lbs.

Colors:  Black, chestnut, fawn, grew; with or without white markings; white

Trainability:  The Barbet’s personality is described as companionable, gay, obedient and intelligent. They are capable retrievers for waterfowl hunting and a faithful companion.

With Children:  Wonderful with children.

Other Pets:  Good with other pets.

Climate:  Does well in all climates.

Indoor / Outdoor:  Outdoor.

Exercise Required: Needs a large amount of exercise.

Grooming Required: Needs frequent brushing.
